Rice Basmati weak on wholesale Grain Market

Commodity rice basmati remained weak in lacklustre trade on the wholesale grains market on increased supplies from producing belts. Rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 remained weak at Rs 4,900-5,000 and Rs 4,200-4,900 against last close of Rs 5,000-5,100 and Rs 4,300-5,100 per quintal, respectively.
Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,500, Super Basmati Rice, 9,000, Basmati common new 4,900-5,000, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 4,200-4,900, Permal raw 1,950-2050, Permal wand 2,200-2,250, Sela 2,450-2,650 and Rice IR-8 1,500-1,600, Bajra 1,090-1,100, Jowar yellow 1,225-1,250, white 2,050-2,250, Maize 1,350-1,360, Barley 1,295-1,310, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
Traders said increased supplies from producing belts, mainly kept pressure on rice basmati prices.
The following are today’s quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,025-2,225, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,580-1,585, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,585-1,590, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 210, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 210, Roller flour mill 850-870 (50 kg), Maida 930-950 (50 kg) and Sooji 1020-1,060 (50kg).

Basmati Rice Export 2012 Bulish for Midle East and UK

Basmati rice 2012, Increased demand for the Indian basmati rice in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait and the UK, exporters have turned bullish on the prospects of the premium variety.
Recently, India's Empowered Group of Ministers (EGOM) had slashed the Mininmum Export Price(MEP) of basmati to $700 from $900.
The country expects to ship about 2.5 million tons of the basmati rice produced for 2011-12. Last year the exports was around 2.18 million tons.
The demand from the India's new markets like Iraq haas also increased and shipment is expected to be around 2.5 lakh tons for 2011-12.
India is the largest producer of basmati rice in the world and is expected to produce around 7.5 million tons for 2011-12.
